Our Junior Board at Lighthouse Charity offers a fantastic opportunity for young professionals to make a tangible difference in the lives of youth and single moms. Junior Board members, ranging in age from 18 to 39, are passionate individuals eager to support our mission of empowering the community through creativity, confidence, and service. 

 As part of the Junior Board, members help drive the impact of Lighthouse Charity by supporting our programs, increasing awareness, and engaging in fundraising efforts. They are committed to fostering positive change and building a brighter future for those we serve. By joining the Junior Board, members not only contribute to the community but also have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, network with like-minded professionals, and make meaningful connections.

My name is Cynthia Patterson and I am a wife, mother, and grandmother who loves reading, singing, dancing, and helping people. I’ve been blessed with the prestigious honor of serving as a leader and pillar in the City of Birmingham. I have had the awesome opportunity to impact the lives of many children who affectionately call me “Mom” because of my passion for helping children, as well as my nurturing qualities.   I am a retiree of the Birmingham Public Library, where I served as a Library Assistant for 41 years. Because of my compassion for seeing children of all walks of life succeed, I dedicated most of my time serving various communities within the city of Birmingham by developing and helping children increase their skills in reading and math, and historical research.   As an avid reader, I served as a Storyteller for several schools, as well as Day Care Programs within the Birmingham City School District. One of my greatest joys in my career is knowing that I made an impact within my community by developing countless programs to develop children and enhance their learning.   I currently serve in the Children’s ministry at my local church by teaching sign language and dance. My life’s mission is to serve and bring joy to those with whom I encounter on a daily basis.

Board Chair Wayne Dansby Jr. is a renowned author and the creative mind behind the book "Leave Life Alone." With a unique voice as a contemporary spiritual speaker, Wayne addresses profound topics that resonate with people of all ages. His approach combines spirituality with practical wisdom, making his messages both accessible and inspiring. Through his writings and speeches, Wayne encourages individuals to embrace life’s challenges with grace and resilience. Beyond his work as an author and speaker, Wayne is deeply committed to mentoring youth. He believes in the power of positive influence and dedicates his time to guiding young people toward their full potential. His mentorship is marked by a genuine passion for helping others discover their inner strength and navigate life's journey with confidence and purpose. Wayne’s dedication to youth mentorship makes him a valued leader and role model within the community.

Andrea Miles serves as the Secretary for Lighthouse Charity, bringing her expertise in financial management from her role at Regions. With a strong background in finance, Andrea ensures that the organization’s operations run smoothly and efficiently. Her commitment to detail and organizational skills contribute significantly to the charity's mission, helping to maintain its focus on empowering youth and single moms. Outside of her professional career, Andrea is a dedicated single mom and an active mentor to several kids in her community. She is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people, providing guidance, support, and encouragement. Andrea’s dedication to mentoring reflects her belief in the importance of community and the power of nurturing the next generation to achieve their goals.
